Women during Golden age Islam

 Treatment of women before Prophet Muhammad (S)

 
Before Islam, women had very few rights. Arab society before Muhammad would be treated with cruelty. new - born daughters would be buried alive. they're was also unlimited polygamy, patrilineal marriage,  and others.They weren't educated, and could definitley not own property, in fact, they were considered it.  Part of Prophet Muhammad's (S) legacy would be ending this infanticide.

Treatment of women after Prophet Muhammad (S)

Early reforms under Islam were focused on marriage, divorce, and inheiritance.  Women were not given such legal status until centuries later in the West. Women were allowed to divorce if necessary, and were also allowed to witness in court.  Education for women was encouraged, and many of the Prrophet Muhammad's (S) wives were highly intelligent.

On the Treatment of Women
Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: I went to the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) and asked him: "What do you say (command) about our wives?" He replied: "Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them."
(Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 11, Number 2139)

The best among you is the one who is best towards his wife” (Muslim #3466).

 "None but a noble man treats women in an honourable manner. And none but an ignoble treats women disgracefully". (At-Tirmithy).

"O people, your wives have certain rights over you and you have certain rights over them. Treat them well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers."  - Farewell speech at Arafah, 10th Hijrah
